Troy, love, what a trove of talent and what a sincere honour it is to be included in it. Thank you.
I teared up at “More than that, they have shown me that a community of creatives is possible, when it sometimes seemed real connection was elusive and rare.” I share the sentiment, entirely.
Lots of familiar, and very dear, names on here - and I’m so looking forward to diving into the unfamiliar ones. Thank you for your generosity. You are such a bright and integral part of my Substack experience (and many others, I know) and I am most grateful to you 💜
Thanks for this Troy, the Coyote clip particularly resonated!
I feel like you've lassoed a good many motivations to write, I'll refer to them every time I sit down (to write) and am confronted with my head-voice asking "why?"
And thanks for the suggestions, my own beloved Chloe in amongst them.
Holy merde, what a fine list. Only one person missing - you! ;-) Such kind, loving words to each person on this list. You're a gem of a person and talent, dear Troy. I'm so grateful to have met you and become your friend. You're one of my first friends here. Thank you! Without your encouragement, I may not have continued. Thank you, thank you, thank you!
Aw, thank you so much, friend. You're so kind to shine a light on my work and the work of so many others. I have you to thank for turning me on to so many of these amazing folks. This really is a special place to be.
Impossibly beautiful and mysterious....a perfect description of Troy Ford and his writings. Also having a husband who is prone to innapropriate fits of laughter I say this resolutely....it was a shining beakon of light that drew me to him like a moth to a flame. Who needs a boring nitwit when you can spend your life floating one one giggling fit to another? Regarding the horribly biased battle of the diva post...all is forgiven!
Gosh Troy, what a delicious and delightful post. I am charmed by your words, kindness and generosity and I return the notion of not being able to imagine Substack without you, your flair and wit and humour and insight.
I love the depth you've gone into with highlighting various Stacks here. And huzzah, there are ones I hadn't seen before, so this is amazing.
Wow, thank you for the shout-out! And thanks for this list, I look forward to looking through everything here. Curated lists by trusted sources are the best way to find interesting things. Kindred spirits indeed!
Thank you for the little pitch, Troy, much appreciated! And I'm so glad you like the short story collection. Your substack in one of my favorites and I read you with pleasure, always!
I came here to comment on your bio line, it made me upset...you know the bit that goes something like "looks once into the abyss so you dont have two"....why am feeling abyssmal? well, mostly because I didnt think of something as absolutely fabulous myself...what a great line and great recommendations above
Wow, Troy, thank you so much for such a lovely shout out - it really made my day when I read your kind words. It is much appreciated brother.
And thank you for compiling such a wonderful list of writers, I have just started looking through some of the other substacks you recommended and I’m honoured to have been included in such a group.
Also what you wrote at the beginning about your experience of writing really resonated with me, especially this —
“But since I have been writing and posting regularly, it has sometimes felt more like running smack into the painted backdrop. THAT has been the more authentic experience of becoming a writer—testing limits, especially my own.” —- I couldn’t agree more.
Gratitude is a verb not a noun

I consider myself a very lucky person to have met you on this here platform, Troy.
You were one of the first--I think THE first--to offer me words of encouragement on here, and it was monumental in me sticking with it.
I think without you the skeptical side of me, and/or the impatient side, may have won... would’ve leaned into, well, not being here.
So I have you to thank for so much, my friend. You’re incredibly kind. You’re incredibly talented.
Thank you.

So many cool comments that deserve to be read. Fun. 😃
Extending the community a little further. So many amazing souls here. Sending heaps of hugs and best wishes. 🤗🤗
Kool. I been following Martine for a minute--and peeping her stories. She has great insites into the Genre.
